The students of Tyrrell Elementary School do not usually go home to instruments and/or musical lessons that they can enjoy. As the poorest county in North Carolina, I want to be able to help my students create their own opportunities,in order for them to be able to attend colleges and receive scholarships through music. Also, for those students who do not pursue college, music is still a great way to find opportunity in the work force and or military. If the students do not pursue music in the world, it is a very great way to teach and learn. Music helps students with testing, other subjects, such as math, and also grows their creativity. The ukuleles in music class will be used to learn, grow and even gain confidence through performance. Being able to play an instrument helps children in many ways. I am excited to see what the ukuleles can do for my students.
