The positive effects engaged reading has on student performance in the classroom has repeatedly shown to have a large effect size. Students who are engaged with reading perform better on assessments, retain more information, and develop a greater sense of self. To fully engage students in their reading, students must be interested in what they are reading. It is important to continually update classroom libraries to reflect student interests. We are requesting the Scholastic STEAM Pack: Grades 3–6, 100 Words Skills books, and Classroom Library Must-Have Books: Grades 2–3. Fully funding this grant who allow me to update and increase the books in classroom library. This would bring literacy opportunities to my students this year and in years to come. This grant would further ensure students have opportunities to explore both fiction and nonfiction literacy titles.
