The ability to focus on your work and keep that focus going is something that EVERY level of learner struggles with. Thankfully, tools have been developed to help all learners with their attention and the ability to keep their mind on the task at hand. My classroom of learners is FULL of energy, and it has become a daily struggle for some of my students to persevere and ignore the feeling to jump around the room and start break dancing in the middle of our classroom library! Everyone needs to move. There isn't one child in my classroom that doesn't need the occasional brain break. That being said, I have a few learners who need something extra. They need a tool that they can use in different situations, to bring that level of focus up. I believe that every student deserves the opportunity to gain what comes easier for other students. While some of my students can spend a day in their chair without getting up, I have some students who if I am not watching, will be halfway across my room moving and twirling around for no other reason then "I just couldn't sit down any longer". The products that I have selected will help these students by giving them a sense of center. I will use the different seat modifiers and wobble stools to help my students who can't sit still find their center and be able to focus longer. I will use the weighted blankets for students to hold in their lap while we are meeting in small groups so they feel grounded on my stools. The stress balls will be great for students whose hands can't sit still while they are listening. The lap desks will help my students who just need a break from their normal desks.
