My teaching philosophy is guided by this quote from Maria Montessori, "The goal of early childhood should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn." As a teacher who works in an urban area with special needs students coming from conditions of poverty this is challenging work. I strive to find ways to connect with each student by making sure that they know that they matter, and by creating opportunities for my students to build confidence through academic and social successes. In my classroom we celebrate each other's successes and lift each other up when faced with challenges. Positivity and love are abundant, but resources are not. I truly appreciate your support in helping me create a learning environment that allows my students to believe in themselves and exposes them to opportunities, so they can reach their full potential despite the obstacles they face.
