We currently have PPE that we use daily for our wind instruments. The PPE we have does not include a MERV-13 filter, which is recommended for indoor playing. Our temporary solution, until we can get MERV-13 filters, is using surgical grade masks as filters with our bell covers. The bells covers for the trumpets have started to develop holes and we are looking to replace them with new bell cover MERV-13 combination bell covers. To properly meet the recommendations to play indoors we need to meet a few criteria: ventilation, wearing a mask, lessen the time playing, hygiene and having bell covers over our instruments. We have met all the criteria but as stated above are using temporary solutions with regard to the proper bell covers and filters. For the students to have a safe environment to practice and perform together on their instruments and to have equity across all instruments (woodwind, brass, percussion, and strings) we need to have the proper PPE for our students.
