We have just started a new AVID elective class and are looking for ways for them to engage in after school activities as well. During class they learned how to play chess and are hoping to start a club and tournament. We would use the supplies to be able to afford students the opportunity to develop new skills and interact with others in meaningful ways. We would like to have chess sets as well as clock timers for them to use during their meetings. We also think it would be a great opportunity for students to develop the ability to plan ahead and manage their time effectively. This club will give them opportunity to work on those skills.

About my class
