Educational theorist, Howard Gardner said "students possess different kinds of minds and therefore learn, remember, perform, and understand in different ways”. Technology can be used to improve reading ability in many ways. It can enhance and sustain the interest levels for digital natives by allowing immediate feedback on performance and providing added practice when necessary. Having reliable technology in a classroom provides more time for instruction. In my classroom the technology is unreliable, old and slow. Instruction time is lost because a computer will freeze or a student will get logged off. By having an iPad in the classroom, it will be used for a center with little to no set up time allowing the student to focus on specific skills. They will receive immediate feedback, be engaged and improve literacy skills in the technology center, while the teacher can circulate and meet the needs of all her students.
