I work in an underfunded and underpriviledged school as a 2nd grade self-contained teacher. I see the same beautiful, funny, challenging faces every single day. I am also a first year teacher, so I'm having a hard time managing my own classroom and trying to keep the students busy. Luckily I have a group that loves to read and take AR quizzes. I have a lot of early finishers that are eager to grab a book. However, the class library is very low on books. Some books the students have read over and over, and some books are not AR. I would love to provide my students with a new and improved, updated classroom library that offers a variety of genres and interests. In the words of Dr. Seuss, "The more you read, the more you know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go." I am a true believer of this quote, and I want to instill the love of learning and reading that is already in my students. I truly believe that a new library with a wide variety of books will motivate my students to become great readers!
