Every morning, 29 of the sweetest students walk in my classroom door. Many are smiling ear to ear even though their tummies are empty and they didn't sleep well. Students in my bilingual third grade class have seen more in their short lives then I have seen in my thirty plus years on Earth. They have struggled with single family homes, being displaced by hurricanes, losing parents and loved ones and not knowing where their next meal will come from. It is my job to educate them them. How can you ever expect them to learn when they are hungry or under the weather. Aristotle said, "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all". It is my hope with the Snyder's Pretzels, and Nutri-grain Bars I can keep their tummies from rumbling while engaging their minds to wonder and explore. With the Clorox wipes, sponges, disinfectant and Lysol spray I hope to at the end of each day, to clean off all the germs and worries of the day and to start fresh the next morning. Starting small and investing in their health and well being will pay dividends later and show my students just how much they matter. Please help me reach my first DonorsChoose.org project. Thank you for your time.
