It sounds cliche', but times have changed! Third graders, in 2019, must learn how to access information, using technology, for a variety of purposes. More and more of our curriculum activities are differentiated for individual student growth and success. The use of applications such as Google Classroom, allow teachers to build assignments that allow each student to work at their own pace while encouraging collaboration and connections with peers. Having computers available in our classroom will allow more flexibility in how students complete assignments. Students will be able to easily access e-books, log into their Google Classroom accounts, work on partner or small group projects, and complete searches on personal high-interest topics. These opportunities will support individual learning based on our content standards such as our current unit on Animal Research. This unit includes reading, writing, and science outcomes in a thematic approach. All students will have the opportunity to use the computers to meet their individual needs. Some students may use the technology for enrichment purposes, while others may use it for necessary accommodations. The most important thing is, they will undoubtedly be more inspired and motivated to complete their work because to them, computers are just plain 'ol FUN!
