My students study and learn choral repertoire from the Renaissance and Medieval Periods. The music that they prepare is sung in 4 part acappella harmony. They learn about the history of the Madrigal Dinner, and how at Christmas time, the Great Hall would be open to all the residents of the castle, where feasting and merriment would take place. Our production emulates this type of event. We incorporate 2 jesters to guide us through a scripted evening, 3 trumpeters that announce each dinner course with a fanfare, waitstaff that serve a catered meal, the school food service staff that prepares an Old English Feaste, and 12-16 Lords and Ladies, who entertain us with songs from far and near and representative of the season in December. We are requesting costumes. Everyone is dressed in lavished period costumes, and our school cafeteria is transformed into The Great Hall of a Castle!
