I have a classroom of 29 kindergartners in the in Chicago, Il. This is the first school experience for some of my students. With that being said, some of my student are still working on self control and school stamina. I have found that by using my smart board and computer as a part of my lessons they stay more engaged. I would like to use these handheld reading tools as a center during our reading block. This will foster the feeling of independence as most of them have some sort of video game at home. All the while, they are building reading readiness and beginning fluency.
