The students I teach have a mild cognitive impairment, learning disability, autism, or attention deficit disorder. The students often struggle with academic content due to lack of skill acquisition, difference in learning style, or need for practice of skills. Teachers at my school have high expectations of learning for our students even though they face learning challenges. Students at my school are motivated by the teachers to do well and want to be independent workers. The visual calculator would allow the students to be independent. Many of the students are underprivileged and live with only the most basic needs.
