I have been in the classroom a few days and introduced two stuffed animals in my classroom. The children LOVE hugging the bear and worm which are based on a child's storybook. They sit and cuddle the animals as they practice reading. If a child is struggling and needs to be redirected, "G" the bear could help him or her. In circle time, students rotate who holds "G" and "E." I found out today that the school policy is NO stuffed anything unless it is wipeable. I now must "phase" the beloved animals from my classroom. The students stand in line to hug the bear and worm. I have brought in a fireplace mantle to help create a "homey" environment for our circle time and would love to have various seating for the students. I think the Calming Colors Soft Seats and Washable Tactile Pillows will be a tremendous help. The pillows are tactile and can be easily cleaned. The Soft Seats will "hug" my students as they sit and read or listen to story. My students need tactile experiences and something to hug while reading. Thank you.
