My students are fortunate enough to have 1:1 chromebooks. However, we do not have enough headphones for each student. In addition to traditional instruction, daily, my students use several programs on the computer that are designed to help them read, and acquire the English language. These programs are designed to differentiate instruction, to meet each of my students specific language needs, and to help them learn the English language quicker. For many of these applications, it is required that my students listen to the instructions or the story being read aloud. Without headphones, it is very difficult for them to concentrate with the background noise of the surrounding students reading, and the other computers. I have noted that when my students do use headphones, their productivity increases, as well as, their overall language growth. If each of my students had a set of headphones to use with their chromebooks, they could better hear the language being spoken to them, which will lead to academic success for all of my students!
