With 25+ five- and six-year old students in class, structure and organization are key to making our school day run smoothly. Quick transitions between activities are essential in order to get through instruction and are nearly impossible without appropriate storage space for students' work. Our school does not have enough desks for every class; therefore, our room has large round tables. While they promote a communal learning environment, student work and supply management become a challenge and a burden. If every student had their own chair pocket, they could efficiently and independently put away their work and supplies, and prepare for the next activity. It would save time, minimize unnecessary chaos when cleaning up, and encourage students to take charge of their own materials. It is hard to overstate what a difference these storage pockets would make in our classroom!
