I want my students to experience the power that music has to enrich our lives. We are taking a field trip to an assisted living facility to interview ten residents about music they remember and enjoyed from their childhood. These residents are selected by the activities directors because they either suffer from memory loss, vision loss, or simply have a need for extra human connection. After the interviews, the students will create an individual playlist of music for each resident interviewed. The students will then download that music to an SD card that can be inserted into a special set of headphones made by the Alive Inside Corporation. This non-profit works to enhance the lives of senior citizens through music. We will then return to the facility to deliver the headphones (which the residents will keep). Each headphone comes with a "splitter" that will enable both the students and the residents to listen to the music at the same time when we deliver the headphones.
