My students love having the opportunity to share their successes and milestones with their family members. With 900 students it isn’t always feasible for me to make positive parent phone calls in the moment. Being able to record videos themselves as a means of sharing their successes allows us to post them on our school’s social media site. As our school family works to improve and transform our school’s social media presence, the iPad can be used to share student stories with family members through our district approved/supported Twitter account, to reward positive behavior and academic achievement, and to give student’s access to tech in a healthy way. Most students are conditioned to view the front office in a negative light. This opportunity could be utilized to build relationships between students and administrators as we will get to interact with them in a celebratory fashion versus in a disciplinary light. It will also allow us the opportunity to positively communicate with parents and stakeholders.
