I am requesting a large fish tank that my entire school would benefit from in a multitude of ways. The fish tank will be placed in the entryway of the school. While the aquarium will be very appealing for everyone to see as they walk into the school, it will benefit the students on an even deeper level. Students will be taking turns to care for and clean the fish tank. Research suggests that social, emotional, and cognitive development is enhanced when a child cares for a pet. Pet ownership ca also beneficial because it has been known to encourage language and communication skills since children tend to talk to their animals. The students will feel such a sense of pride to be able to take care of the fish. I truly believe that having a school pet which have such an amazing impact on the climate and compassion present in our school among the students!
