Over half of my students live in a homeless shelter. They go through a lot just trying to get to school everyday. For some of them, they hug and love they get from me may be the only love they get. I want to make sure that I am well equipped to teach children who have less than desirable home lives. I also want my classroom to be a safe space for them to express themselves and feel free to be children. My school may have a poverty rate of 99%, but my students are smart and capable of learning. They yearn for someone to believe in them. I want that person to be me.

About my class
