The bean bag and comfy ottoman will allow my students mobility in the classroom. Whether during center time, silent reading time or writer’s workshop they will have the opportunity to sit on a bean bag or the ottoman and feel like this time is very special using the different seating material. It will also allow them to move around the classroom eliminating restlessness AND it will also encourage them to complete assignments in a timely manner so they can use the exciting “reader’s and writer’s seats.” My class will also use this seating during Writer’s Workshop. We discuss the various stages an author must complete to get to a published copy. We learn that writers can sometimes need a change of scenery to get the wheels turning during writing time. These will be those seats!!
