My first graders have tons of energy and struggle to stay seated during whole group learning and centers. By providing my students with wobble stools and soft spots, the choices they have for what to sit on will allow them to "move" while learning, increasing their focus and concentration on the content they are learning. Each student will get a soft spot to put on their chair and during independent work time they can choose to move their spot off their chair and work beside their desk on the floor. The wobble chairs will be placed at the teacher table for guided reading and intervention and the computer center. I am excited for my students to have more choices than just sitting in a desk to learn. By having a choice on what to sit on, my students will have more autonomy over the way they learn.
