I love teaching 8th Grade Science, because the science classroom is a place where young adolescents can do what they do best: ask questions, use their busy hands to explore, and contemplate their own place in this world. My students come from so many places and walks of life, and each student has an incredible story to tell. It is incredibly powerful and inspiring to see them come together to share science, to explore science side by side as they work together to make sense of themselves and their world. For many of my students, 8th grade is only the second year of science instruction, so there is a lot of work to be done! My goal is for my students to see themselves as scientists, and to continue asking and seeking answers for to their questions.
