Many students in our classroom learn in various styles. One style includes learning visually. Before completing tasks independently, students need to see how to solve a problem or how to use a new strategy. A document camera captures images from learning materials and projects them onto the SMART board in the classroom. It can help all kinds of learners (i.e. visual, linguistic and kinesthetic). A new ELMO document camera will help our students project their current work onto the SMART board and allow students an opportunity to share with classmates. Students benefit from being able to see and follow along when we are teaching. They also benefit from seeing other students work and giving each other feedback on their work. I am requesting a document camera for our classroom to aid us in modeling math problems, locating information in a text or adding details into writing pieces!
