The MacBook that we are requesting will replace a very old MacBook that is no longer working. I have facilitated the News Crew for the past 9 years and we edit our weekly news using iMovie. We are in desperate need of a new MacBook for this purpose. The News Crew is so important to the students in our school. It not only impacts the 24 students currently on the crew, but also the students who one day hope to be on the crew, the students being interviewed weekly on the "student interview" segment, the students participating in the weekly "art contest", students who are announced as winners on our "Guess Who" segment, and those students studying at home during this time. The school news is helping to keep a connection with our cyber students, creating a sense of normalcy and allowing them to participate in the news and remain a part of our school community. So many of our students feel a connection to the school news. The MacBook will also be used in my art class to make stop motion movies and time lapses. I have started a class with 3rd-6th graders in the building where we are integrating technology and art, it is called the smART Space. Students are loving the integration of technology and art. Their enthusiasm is inspiring!
