Greetings. I am teaching an elective class called; Discrimination, Social Justice, and Civil Rights in America. The reason I am teaching this class is because of all of the social justice and civil unrest that my students and the world witnessed in America this summer. Many of my students have fled their home countries due to civil war, extreme crime, or other persecution. I work at a high school for English Language Learners who recently have arrived in the United States. Many have arrived in America viewing it as a country of extreme peace and harmony. Some are extremely perplexed at what they have witnessed in the USA in the last 9 months. I believe this book goes in harmony with the curriculum of the class. I believe the students in my class can even become a student panel that will help promote healthy conversations about social justice in America for the entire school.
