Watercolor pencils give a child more control over his artwork than regular watercolors. This builds a child's confidence in his abilities. Success breeds success. Quality pastels make a huge difference in the quality of artwork a child can produce. More than anything it is gratifying to hear the "Oooh's and Aaah's" as children experience using quality art materials for the first time. My job, as an art instructor is to integrate art with the academic core. I design art projects to reinforce what they are learning in the classroom in reading, math, science, social studies and science skills. Art and kinestetic learning help to cement concepts and make them more concrete and memorable.
