At this moment we gather in an open area in the classroom just delimited with tape. A carpet in my classroom will provide my students with a selected area to belong and take an active part in our learning community. It will provide a space for activities that impact their reading enjoyment and comprehension. In the beginning, we had our whole group instruction from our tables, but it was hard to elicit conversations with the whole class. My students will have a comfortable and inviting carpet; a place to enjoy read-alouds, learning new reading concepts and practice them all together having my support near them.
