Students in my classroom are part of a lower economic community. Many students come from a nearby Native American reservation. Most of the students take advantage of the free or reduced breakfast and lunch program. Their families are struggling financially and sometimes lack things such as books and supplies that their children need to succeed. Additionally, my students are part of the special education program. The all have a learning disability which impacts their abilities in reading writing and math. They are all completely capable succeeding in school and going on to college one day, they just need to be taught in a different way than their general education peers.
