A reed is a basic need that is required to play a woodwind instrument such as the Clarinet or Saxophone. Parents of my students are often unable to purchase reeds for their child to participate in band due to transportation and financial challenges. When a student's reed breaks they are typically unable to get a new one quickly and can sometimes go days before a new one can be acquired. As a result of having reeds readily available, it would increase their motivation to learn new musical concepts and decrease the stress of not being able to participate in class. There isn't a local music store in town, so access to these basic necessities can often be very limited. Students would greatly benefit from having reeds readily available in class.
