In 8th grade, students in Ohio learn about the ideas of enlightenment and dissatisfaction with colonial rule by England that led colonist to write the Declaration of Independence and launch the American Revolution. As an extension of this state standard we will take 35 8th grade students to Philadelphia to participate in the Constitutional Walking Tour which will include the National Constitution Center, Independence Hall, and the Liberty Bell. What better way to immerse students in learning than to let them experience the physical location where history took place. What an impact it will make for students to get to stand in the birthplace of America, where the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were both debated and signed.
