"Coming from a low-income Hispanic home, I do not receive many opportunities outside of the typical student high school experience. Since I want to pursue a career in medicine, my background is unfortunately not providing me with the necessary experiences to be successful in a medical field. By taking this trip, I will begin my journey of what medicine is – at its most basic – by experiencing a leadership camp at a medical campus! This fundraiser will be used for traveling to Los Angeles from Colorado and back again and to pay for room/board at UCLA for the conference, which actually totals over $4000. To go on this trip would allow me to link my love of biology and the sciences to a profession that I aspire to join and never thought I would have the opportunity to achieve: a family practitioner. Going on this trip in and of itself is an experience that will be given to me by my family, friends, and community. You are giving me the ability to train now so that, later on, I can give back to the people and community who have loved supported me thus far. Help invest in my future so that I can return and change my community for the better by offering a bilingual family practice that can inspire more from the community to wish for the stars and work hard to achieve what was previously thought impossible." Help me provide this amazing experience to one of my hardest-working and genuinely kindest students I have had the pleasure of teaching. He deserves every opportunity for success and I would be most thankful if y'all could help me get my kiddo to UCLA to experience medicine first-hand! Thank you so much for your generous donations.
