I have chosen to ask for the PYLE Pro PDWM8700 wireless microphone system because I have used one similar to it in a previous school. One of the teachers next door to me is using one this year for a hearing impaired student. I really see the benefit of him using one in his classroom this year. I was apprehensive about using one in my classroom in my previous district but after being on the outside and watching the growth of my coworker’s students, I now see the benefits. My coworker was that it would be a distraction to the other students throughout the day. I shared my experience with a microphone system and how engaged my students were and students' behavior was better due to them being able to hear all throughout the lesson. The ability to project my voice in the classroom will allow students to hear over noises that obstruct my voice. Between the air/heat vents blowing, student noises, and technology running, the microphone that will be attached to me will give students a clearer understanding of instruction and content that is delivered. I have read research that explains how a teacher voice is not always heard by all students. The overall study provided evidence that teachers and students at all grade levels found significant value in the use of classroom amplification technology in the classroom. Allowing the teacher to project his or her voice around the room, allows all students no matter where they sit the chance to hear. Teachers in classrooms equipped with the amplification technology have reported students with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and those with hearing impairments, along with English Language Learners (ELL) benefited the most from the use of these systems. Please help me fund this project!
