Also, during times of crisis, these students may be in the "safe space" for pure safety. Having a play area will help ease their anxiety and feel like things are normal. The blocks and puzzles will keep their hands busy while their minds are able to speak their feelings. The stress relievers will help calm students in a time of crisis. Often times, schools are looked at as just a place of learning. Schools are often a space for children to heal.
