Coming from a low income area where supplies are limited, our classroom environment plays a huge roll in helping us learn. Having a reading table will allow my students to receive small group instruction. This also promotes individualized instruction based on the proximity of the students to the teacher. Having a kidney shaped table will allow my students to execute guided reading successfully and will enable my students to become more interested in reading with their teacher. Reading is extremely important as it prepares our students to become life-long learners. Small group reading instruction is beneficial for my students because we're working at their "just right" reading level. Smaller group instruction also helps them to build their confidence with reading, and take safe risks that they normally would not take in the classroom.
