My students learn best with multiple learning approaches and an engaging learning atmosphere. Having supplies to help fulfill these learning needs with help my students make progress. Sensory style and hands-on learning centers, along with flexible seating will help give the students comfort in their learning environment. My self contained classroom learns best through hands-on, game like learning. Practicing spelling words with playdoh not only provides a fun way to work on site words, but also provides OT with helping strengthening their fine motor schools. Some of my students do not have basic fine motor skills, such has handwriting and proper pencil grip. These supplies will help improve the quality of the handwriting. Also, fun items and workbooks help them practice skills in the classroom when they are not receiving direct instruction. Flexible seating is a good way to provide the students with a comfortable way to learn. We have slowly implemented this learning style with available funds throughout the years. As of right now our classroom has regular desks and chairs, tables, exercise balls, wobble chairs, and a standing desk. By offering a variety of seating arrangements, it allows my student to choose where they can work best.
