In an effort to encourage our students to give back, we hold a Pay It Forward Event that benefits organizations and charities in our area. The fleece is used to make blankets for Project Linus which is an organization that provides a blanket for kids in the hospital. We also use the fleece to make dog and cat toys and blankets for our local animal shelter, Helping Paws. The crayons, colors, and construction paper are used to make cards for kids with cancer, thank you cards for police and firemen, and placemats for meals for homebound seniors. Students make the DIY crafts for local nursing homes. The jersey fabric along with the felt and ribbon will be used to make capes for kids that are experiencing homelessness. All students are able to give back regardless of their financial status and understand that even at their age they can make a difference through their actions. We hope that they see how easy it is and are inspired to continue to give back. This is open to all 800+ students in our building.
