I have the pleasure of educating 32 fifth grade inner city public school students. My students are very active and are eager to learn. The books that are currently in my classroom library are the same books that the students had access to last school year. Because of this, I am in dire need of new reading material. Our school uses the Accelerated Reader program to assess students' reading comprehension skills once they've completed the book of their choosing. I hate to see the students thumbing through the books, looking for a book that they haven't read when selecting a new book for the week. We allow students to share books they enjoy reading on the "Thumbs Up" bulletin board. They right summaries of favorite books which are posted along with a snapshot of the student and the cover of the book that they are recommending. New books will provide additional opportunities for more reviews.
