I am a first-year Teacher Librarian trying to create a Makerspace in our library for students to explore, collaborate and create. Along with virtual reality tours and videos, augmented reality activities, our STEM Makerspace would be complete with a green screen for students to create videos for virtually any and all subject areas. Green screens allow student-driven projects that can lead to authentic learning and assessment opportunities. It fosters and cultivates creativity, knowledge of technology, collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking into assignments. Future-ready students require technology that is exciting and would allow our library to keep up with the demands of the digital classroom. In order for our students to succeed and compete with students with more advantages, it is vital to provide STEM learning opportunities in all areas of our campus.
