After my class learns the basic instruments of sewing and how to read a sewing pattern, students will learn how to properly operate a sewing machine. Each scholar will be able to use the machines to create interactive sewing notebooks. We will also use the machines to create e-textile STEAM projects. The sewing machines will be used to assist other schoolmates with wardrobe malfunctions. The students at the school do not easily have regular access to clothing repair and alterations because the school is located in a very low income area. These types of repairs and alterations to their uniforms will promote more self-positivity among the student body. Whenever students feel better about themselves, that good energy spreads across all platforms.
