Reading textbooks are great for the use of assessments but I want my children to really develop a love of reading. I choose to create assignments based off of novels in class to engage my students in the act of reading more. I have exhausted the class sets of books in our school library and need more titles that will interest my children! I use novels for whole group reading, centers, and independent reading. I love the way my students light up and become excited about finishing and discussing our books. After finishing our previous book I had a student who was completely against reading our novel walk up to me after class and say "Ms.Benefield, thank you for purchasing that book for us. I really liked it." My heart just melted. Please help me develop a love for reading in each of my students! Today a reader, tomorrow a leader!
