These books will complete a collection of non-fiction titles that I intend to offer for a new literary circle project focused on social justice. Whenever possible, I offer my students choices in what they write and in what they read. when given a choice, buy-in is further ensured and these are the titles my students most wish to explore. Our students are surrounded by uncertainties in society, which can affect them in their daily lives and by enabling them to read the stories of real people and their experiences, they will be provided with a means of processing these fears and uncertainties as they witness others doing the same. I hope that as they complete the activities, writing pieces, and discussions I've designed they will begin to further understand themselves, some of our societal issues, and the human experience.
