My goal as a teacher is to provide student-centered and personalized learning. This means giving my students a say in how they sit, where they sit, and what they sit in or on. Flexible seating helps to cater to students needs by allowing them to have options other than the traditional desk and chair. It lets them identify the kinds of furniture, such as balance balls, stools, rockers, bean bags, etc. that 1) they find most comfortable and 2) gets them motivated to learn. Additionally, it promotes student creativity, engagement, focus, and collaboration. The seating will be used in our reading nook and during independent work across various subjects.
