My students were thrilled to use the new literacy games and decodable books during our ENL classes. When the games and books arrived, their faces lit up with excitement. They already love to read and build vocabulary together, this gift just made it even better. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as English Language Learners as they practiced decoding words and supporting each other in vocabulary development. \r\n\r\nI am so grateful for the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards, which have allowed me to access additional resources to support literacy development. Towards the end of the year we went on virtual field trips. From the Bronx Zoo to the Grand Canyon its has been a joy to purchase additional fun, interest driven and engaging materials. Your support has opened up new opportunities for building strong reading and language development habits. These may seem like simple tools all students need and I'm so grateful for your support.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the picture dictionaries, their faces lit up with excitement! I was able to get at least two copies representing all the language currently in my classroom. The colorful images and familiar words have become invaluable tools in supporting our learning journey. As part of writing students are encourages to label their drawings/writing. It is such a pleasure to see the students independently using the resources and even attempting to pronounce words in one another's language. We will continue to use these dictionaries to write longer piece over time. This resource is truly worth its weight in gold. \r\n\r\nThe whiteboards have also become a favorite resource for my students. They use them almost every day during phonics lessons to practice writing and drawing. We play a game and see how quickly they can jot down words and share them, building their confidence as well. The stickers, people color crayons and playdough are always used! The students love using the crayons that represents their diverse backgrounds, and the stickers add a fun touch to their projects. These materials simple, yet meaningful materials were a welcome addition to our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your kindness and generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1733288215883,"projectUrl":"project/we-see-you-bilingual-picture-dictionar/8551434/","projectTitle":"We See You - Bilingual Picture Dictionaries & Simple Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Arana","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp126199_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1532228511612","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msvega"},{"teacherId":126199,"projectId":8895831,"letterContent":"I am incredibly grateful to you, our donors for providing our classroom with a color printer, engaging books, hands-on materials such as Magna-Tiles (are the all time current favorite :) and playdough. As well as some much needed, organizational tools for our classroom. These materials and resources have transformed our learning environment and enhanced my students' educational experiences in many ways.\r\n\r\nThe color printer has become an invaluable tool in our classroom, allowing students to bring their creativity to life. Whether I am printing colorful books, sentence starters, letters and/or practice pages to support building their language skills, its always better in color! As of late, we have been learning about the changes we observe in nature. Having a color printer and the ability to print animals we are learning about the makes everything that much better and visually engaging. This printer has helped the express their interests, ideas and foster a deeper understanding of all we explore. I now have the ability to print based on their interests in the moment.\r\n\r\nI've noticed that some of my more hesitant learners have been motivated with these new tools. For example, a student who previously struggled with traditional learning methods now actively participates in group activities, using the Magna-Tiles to visualize concepts in science. Another student, who seemed hesitant in class, has found her joy in creating art with the playdough, allowing her to express herself and gain confidence one playdough letter at a time.\r\n\r\nOne of the books that you gifted us has resonated deeply with our class, is The Invisible String by Patrice Karst. This beautiful story teaches the power of connection, illustrating how love and support can transcend distance. I read this book aloud to my students and we discussed, you our donors, that are like the invisible strings connecting us, providing the resources and encouragement that help us thrive in class everyday. The lessons from this book have encouraged discussions about our community, empathy, and the importance of our relationships—both with one another and with those we see and may not see. So thank you for this book, these materials and the opportunity to make all our students feel seen, loved and supported.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generous support, our classroom is now a happier, vibrant colorful place of exploration and creativity. Just know, you are igniting a passion for learning that I am sure will last a lifetime. Your contributions are truly making a difference in the lives of our students, reminding us all of the invisible strings that connect us. My deepest sympathy for the loss of your team leaders husband. I am honored to be touched by his legacy through this amazing gift. His memory will be shared through the play of my students and his impact will mean so much to my kids. \r\nMy school is in south queens. We are located within less then 2 miles of 4 family shelters. 1 being the largest family shelter in NYC. My students have very little when living in one room with all their family members. Legos can be pricey and many of my students do not get to own legos. Having our classroom have legos builds so many skills, such as the skills to become an architect. I hope my children can dream to be an architect. \r\nThank you for your gift. Your support providing board games has been a wonderful addition to our ENL classroom.\r\n\r\nSince incorporating these board games my students have ALL shown remarkable enthusiasm. Just last week, we embarked on a project where students had to draw and write \"How to...\" using sequence words. We modeled using one of the games and they were so excited to explain the steps in sequence using all they learned, they did amazing. Speaking in complete sentences and explaining each step in great detail. The engagement was palpable, and it was a wonderful moment to see students sharing their knowledge.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue to use these fun learning resources in our upcoming unit on friendship and community. Students will continue to practice their enhance their vocabulary, communication skills (listening and speaking) in the best way possible, playing games!
