I am a 5th grade grammar and writing teacher at an inner city school loaded with valuable diversity. Inner-city youth face unique challenges. Negativity is all around them. Starting in the classroom, we can change that. The only way to change where we live is to inspire our future leaders, innovators, and hopefully, teachers who can teach even better than we can. School should be more than a place to learn. It should be a place to grow and live happily and safely. That is what I want my classroom to be. I want it to be a place where students are excited to go. For that to be possible, I need your help. Children have a right to the best education possible that is not only limited to academic learning, but also has a strong focus on social and emotional learning. This takes resources, and even basic classroom resources are expensive. I cannot do it alone. Help me to provide for these children.
