Have you ever read an informative reading passage and struggled to find the meaning in the words? Or racked your brain to remember the steps to follow when solving a math equations? Most of us have and it can be very frustrating. Learning would be easier if only the words would jump off the page or the steps would play across our mind the same way that we see them written during the class lesson. With highlighters, backlights, and cool vests, we can make reading passages and math problems leap off the page and help students see them more easily. One swipe of a yellow highlighter can help you see the main idea of the passage. Multiple highlighters can define the right steps and order to solve math equations correctly. When you add a black light, viola, the words glow and come to life. My students, who have already struggled with learning, would greatly benefit from the use of these materials in my classroom. Not only will they help them see the concepts more easily, but they will help generate excitement and positive feelings related to education. The more positive experiences I can give them, the better I can help reshape their feelings toward learning.
