My elementary students and their parents often don't understand their changing bodies and aren't prepared to need things like deodorant or feminine hygiene supplies before becoming teenagers. Many times, the added cost of any of these items can make the difference between health & hygiene and a meal. I hope to have enough supplies on hand for my students' personal needs to help them avoid missed class time. Girls starting periods, boys needing deodorant and all of them needing to brush their teeth or get rid of head lice mean missing class to take care of these things in my office when they could be taken care of at home..
