I would like to try a cross-curricular project that combines financial literacy with applied sciences by having my students create an interactive monopoly game with 3D store fronts of Atlantic Avenue, B & O Railroad, Baltic Avenue, Boardwalk, Connecticut Avenue, Electric Company, Illinois Avenue, Indiana Avenue, Kentucky Avenue, Marvin Gardens, Mediterranean Avenue, New York Avenue, North Carolina Avenue, Pacific Avenue, Park Place, Pennsylvania Avenue, Pennsylvania Railroad, Reading Railroad, Short Line, St. Charles Place, St. James Place, States Avenue, Tennessee Avenue, Ventnor Avenue, Vermont Avenue, Virginia Avenue, and Water Works. These streets, railroad stations and storefronts will be constructed from recycled cardboard, Popsicle Sticks, (2,000pc), 4-1/2" Length, Food Grade Wooden Ice Cream Sticks, Great Bulk Sticks for Crafts, by Fedmax., Alliance Rubber 27405 Advantage Rubber Bands Size #117B, 1 lb Box Contains Approx. 200 Bands (7" x 1/8", Natural Crepe), Lincoln Logs, Manila Folders, pens, pencils and markers. The banker will dictate moves using the Kano Harry Potter Coding Kit. My students will learn valuable financial literacy skills through constructing and playing this interactive Monopoly game. Financial literacy is a life skill that is too often neglected. All students should be introduced to budgeting basics at a young age so they can incorporate these money management strategies into their everyday lives. We live in a world of finite resources, whether our resources are cash or credit.
