It is all too often that we find ourselves, as teachers, looking through the school for the supplies that should automatically be supplied to our classrooms. They are items that help the students learn in our daily routines in all subject areas. All students deserve to learn in an environment that is best suited for their learning needs. For this reason, flexible seating has become key to many classrooms and student success. I'm asking for the basic supplies that teachers so often fund themselves, and for the opportunity to my students to learn in a less-restrictive environment to help them achieve their full-potential. I'm excited for this school year and all the things my students can achieve when given the right tools for the job! The pencils will allow me to give my students pencils when they are needed, as it is a daily problem that students do not come to school with the supplies they need for their daily activities; for this same reason, the colored pencils, crayons, markers and erasers will be very helpful. White board markers are a great tool that we use during mathematics to hold up answers which gives me the ability to check quickly at a glance which students understand the concepts and which do not. Having posters help me to communicated new ideas, especially grammar rules, to the class by having them posted in the classroom in a colorful way, and the post-its are handy for many reasons including leaving notes for students, myself, and giving students bookmarks. The seats for the floors and computer desks allow the students to move around a little more freely, rather than being stuck in their seats all day long.
