We plan to create a device that would produce no noise, but alert teachers and students through a series of lights to take action when a potential threat to their safety is imminent. We as a group plan to create an app that would deliver a message to police and teachers notifying them there is a possible threat of a shooting in the school area. The device would automatically stop the intruder to come into the classroom by automatically locking the door that it is designated to. It is placed inside a room that turns off the lights and itself beams a red light to warn whoever is inside the room. This device cannot only lock the door but also notify the authorities with a silent alarm. When someone who intends to harm a group of people, a loud announcement lets the person know about their presence which may lead the person to change their course of action. To avoid that situation, a silent alarm would leave the perpetrator believing they have the upper hand when in reality they are in a vulnerable position where authorities can use the element of surprise to arrest the intruder.
